KwikNet Telnet Option Offers Full-Service Client and Server
KADAK's RFC-Compliant TELNET Includes Features Rarely Found in
Embedded Implementations
VANCOUVER, CANADA - October 1, 1999 -- KADAK Products Ltd. today
announced the availability of its KwikNet Telnet Option which allows
embedded systems developers to add simple terminal emulation capablities
to their embedded application using the popular TELNET protocol.
The KwikNet Telnet Option uses the TCP/IP sockets interface to provide
client or server terminal services across a network.
The Telnet server can handle multiple Telnet sessions concurrently.
When memory is a limiting factor, the Telnet client and server can each be
trimmed to eliminate features deemed unnecessary in a particular application.
The KwikNet Telnet Option includes support for both text and binary
modes of transmission. The application has full control over the end
of line strings to be used and can specify the characters to be used
for Telnet's erase character and erase line editing purposes.
Both client and server applications can send Telnet commands.
Each receives notification of commands received from the other.
Full support for Telnet's option negotiation facility is provided.
Either client or server can initiate the modification of any
Telnet option, leaving KwikNet to handle the negotiation protocol.
Unlike most Telnet implementations, KwikNet also allows the
application to detect urgent requests from a client or server.
KwikNet includes support for the UDP, IP, TCP, ICMP, ARP and DHCP
(BOOTP) protocols along with a complete TCP sockets interface.
SLIP and Ethernet network drivers are ready for use with serial and
Ethernet device drivers.
The following optional KwikNet components are also available:
 |
PPP Network Driver |
 |
FTP Client and Server |
 |
Web Server with Virtual File System |
 |
SNMP Agent and MIB Compiler |
