KADAK's AMX^TM Real Time Operating System (RTOS) is now fully accessible from the ARM^® RealView^® task aware debugger. The integration provided is unique and goes well beyond the basic offerings of other RTOS vendors.

KADAK's KwikLook^TM Fault Finder provides the interface between AMX and RealView. KwikLook supports the standard RealView Resource Viewer task aware functionality but extends its power with more detailed displays of internal RTOS objects and activities. KwikLook gives you quick fingertip access to everything controlled by AMX and its managers:

• Tasks
• Timers (ticks and ms)
• Mailboxes and message exchanges
• Message contents
• Semaphores
• Event groups
• Buffer pools
• Memory pools

All messages queued in mailboxes or message exchanges are visible along with the sender's identification. If no messages are present, KwikLook shows the tasks, if any, which are waiting for a message to arrive.

KwikLook shows which tasks own resources and which ones are waiting for them. The state of all events in each event group can be viewed complete with a list of the tasks waiting for specific event combinations.

The memory usage display gives a snapshot of current allocation by the Memory Manager. Unexpected fragmentation is readily observable. Similarly, free and used buffers are shown for each buffer pool.

Using KwikLook, there are no surprises, no guessing. Disappearing resources can be uncovered. Unexpected task activity is exposed. Even stack overflow and underflow can be observed.

KwikNet SMTP Option Released

The KwikNet SMTP Option is now available for developers who wish to add simple mail services to their embedded applications which incorporate the KwikNet TCP/IP Stack. With its own SMTP client, an embedded device can now send mail messages to provide status and reports to a remote monitor. Similarly, with a built-in SMTP server, the device can receive configuration details and operating parameters by mail.

A Choice of TCP/IP Stacks for Blackfin DSP

KADAK now offers a choice of TCP/IP stacks for use with the Analog Devices Blackfin DSP.

KwikNet for Blackfin, released in September 2002, is available for use with the Analog Devices VDK kernel (RTOS).

The KwikNet Porting Kit is now available for use on the Blackfin with any RTOS other than the VDK or in single-threaded fashion without any RTOS. This means that you are no longer restricted to using KwikNet with the VDK. When ordering, just specify that the KwikNet Porting Kit is for use with the Blackfin.

Ethernet Device Drivers

KADAK has released two new Ethernet device drivers.

The KwikNet device driver for the Motorola MCF5282 FEC Fast Ethernet Channel provides Ethernet service at 10Mbps and 100Mbps. Although platform independent, the driver has been tested and is ready for use on the Motorola M5282EVB board.

The KwikNet device driver for the Cirrus Logic CS8900A Ethernet Controller provides Ethernet service at 10Mbps and 100Mbps. Although platform independent, the driver is provided ready for use with the Cogent Computer Systems CSB238 Single Board Computer.

• Board support for the Cogent Computer Systems CSB238 Single Board Computer has been added to AMX 4-Thumb and AMX 4-ARM. AMX supports the timer and interrupt controller as used on this board. The AMX Sample Program makes use of the processor's UART interface.
